Eating healthy is a major part of staying healthy which in turn is a major part of living healthy. Gen Y in the Indian urban zone, including me, is leading a life which is far from healthy. I have made a conscious decision to start living a healthy life. That of course meant a lot of changes to my current lifestyle, including exercising and having a proper diet. I know from past experience and looking at my friends that this is not an easy task. It requires a lot of dedication, effort and the will to follow a decision.

I have started exercising and I’ll leave the details of it to another day. Today, I have decided to implement a healthy diet plan. My fitness instructor has given a detailed daily diet to follow a few days ago and I have decided to follow it despite my hectic schedule and inability to shop regulary and voluntarily. So today I went shopping for a week’s worth of fruits, vegetables, cereals, pulses and other healthy snacks. It was a particularly tiring day for me and even after entering the shopping mart, every fiber in my body was instinctively shouting to get out right then, never to return.

I went to Crossword to calm myself down, browsed through some books and then went back into the fearsome activity of grocery shopping. I made a list of all the items I would need in advance and made a few last minute changes to the list to make it more realistic and followable. I got all the items on my list and they shall be my diet for the next week. I will post about the success or otherwise of this task a week later. This is going to be a very tough week for me and starting tomorrow, I plan to stick to the diet plan as if my life depended on it. My hope is that it would stick around forever.
